This is our second year hosting this visual arts exhibition series at Walton Theatre. Artworks will be displayed primarily in the Parlor that is upstairs above the lobby, and also in other appropriate spaces in and around the theatre. The series will include visual arts exhibitions, spoken word performances, art and storytelling workshops, artist talks, demonstrations and other programs featuring Delaware County artists.
Entrance to all Parlor Gallery exhibitions and Arts in the Parlor events is free and donations to support the Arts in the Parlor series are always welcomed and encouraged!
Artists and exhibitions sought are ones that further the dialogue between visual arts and performing arts, or celebrate the story of the Theatre and/or Delaware County, NY. If you are an artist of Delaware County, please consider exhibiting at our Parlor Gallery. Applications following our submission guidelines will be reviewed year round for the next available exhibition dates, usually nine to twelve months into the future.
The Arts in the Parlor series has been made possible, by a NYSCA Community Arts Grant through the Decentralization Grant Program, administered in Delaware County by the Roxbury Arts Group, by the Walton Theatre Preservation Association, by Feather and Stone restaurant, Molto Espresso coffeehouse, by donations from exhibition visitors, and by community volunteers. Thank you!
There were five artists who participated in the 2015 exhibition series. All were based in Delaware County and all played a significant role in inaugurating the Arts in the Parlor program at Walton Theatre.
Lisbeth Firmin, of Margaretville initiated the series with her exhibition, The Tractor Series, in July thru August.
The 2015 Arts in the Parlor exhibition series ended with an exhibition, The Art of Giving, a season finale of Walton Theatre’s first year hosting visual and performance arts events.
It was a fascinating first year, adding a visual arts program into a growing list of program offerings at Walton Theatre! Those that experienced the visual arts exhibitions received them with great appreciation. We plan to build on our successes and host at least six new visual art exhibitions here in 2016 and 2017.
Applications are accepted year round from 6 to 18 months prior to proposed exhibition dates.
All artist of Delaware County, New York, are eligible to submit proposals for exhibitions in the Parlor Gallery at Walton Theatre.
Exhibitions sought will feature at least one of the following criteria:
