The Suicide Prevention Network will be screening the film “Crazy” and its very own #BeThe1to #SaveALife campaign. #Bethe1to is designed to help people who are living with suicidal thoughts and connect them to resources. There will be a live panel after the films as well featuring local resources of professionals and volunteers who are able to assist in this work.
CRAZY is a provocative one-hour documentary about one young man's journey through the mental health system: including multiple arrests, a diagnosis of schizophrenia, court ordered Involuntary Outpatient Commitments, and his family’s legal battles to have a say in his treatment.
Produced in the 1950’s when the reservoir was being started, the film shows the impact on residents being relocated from their long time homes and communities. The film is especially interesting because it features not actors but real local people, many of whom will still be recognizable. Among those featured is Grant Rogers, stone cutter, logger and singer/songwriter.
